PRODUCTION ONLINE FASTER
- Fittings are installed quickly and easily, while unspooling the linepipe is effortless. In some cases, up to two kilometers of Flexpipe can be unspooled, connected, and placed in the ditch in less than two hours, allowing production to come online much quicker than steel or fiberglass lines.
A large multinational oil company was facing frequent downtime for line repairs due to corrosion in its Argentina oil and gas fields. Chemical treatment, pigging and line repairs were just a few of the challenges presented by the operating conditions in this region.
When Flexpipe introduced its non-corrosive, spoolable composite piping system with a 50-year design life to this company, the response was to develop a pilot project and test the technology.
The company replaced a 1.8km steel line with 3” 601 Flexpipe. Three days were scheduled to install the pipeline, but to the surprise of the client, the line was strung with all couplings and end-fittings installed with cathodic protection in less than 8 hours. The company was able to proceed quickly to the hydrostatic test and put the line back into operating significantly ahead of schedule.
This company is now considering Flexpipe products as the long term solution for all its future gathering and injection line needs in the region, replacing the less reliable steel and fiberglass lines.
